Annual November Mass
Two special November masses are scheduled to remember those who died during the past 12 months. One in Newcastle on Friday Nov 13 at 7.30pm and one in Saggart on Friday Nov 20 also at 7.30pm. Please spread the word to those who may have moved from the parish but would appreciate the invite. A service of remembrance will also take place in Brittas on Wednesday Nov 18 at 7pm for those who have died in the locality.
Pope Leo’s Intentions for October
Pope Leo XIV dedicates his October prayer intention to mental health ministry, calling on the Church to listen without judging and accompany those who suffer without excluding them. Let us pray that the mental health ministry be established throughout the Church, helping to overcome the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses. Pope Leo Letter on Humanity
The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has published the first encyclical, (major teaching letter), of his papacy. It is aimed at safeguarding humanity at a time of artificial intelligence. At its heart, is an appeal to all people of good will to work together to ensure that AI will be developed and used in ways that promote ‘human flourishing’ and help us to build a better and more just world. Irish Synodal Assembly
On 10 March 2021, the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference announced a new Synodal Pathway for the Catholic Church in Ireland leading to the holding of a National Synodal Assembly or Assemblies within the next five years. The key question to be addressed was: What does God want from the Church in Ireland at this time? The following links provide updates on the work completed to date.
